Once upon a time, there was a little house in the big woods. There were five people in the house, papa, mama, Mary, Laura and baby Carrie.
Papa was not only a farmer but also a hunter. He was a very strong man.
Mama was a housewife. She could cook delicious food, such as bread, cheese and sausage.
Two older girls, Mary and Laura often helped their mum do some housework. The girls all liked hearing stories from papa.
They lived together happily at a Little House in the Big Woods.
